Canada's Cannabis Giant

Ontario dominates Canada's cannabis landscape with 1,799 licensed stores — 48% of the national total. The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS.ca) serves as the sole wholesaler and provincial online retailer. Public consumption follows the Smoke-Free Ontario Act: cannabis can be smoked or vaped wherever tobacco smoking is allowed, including most sidewalks and outdoor public areas.

In May 2025, the AGCO removed requirements for stores to cover windows. An "Ontario Grown Cannabis" badge launched for products with at least 75% Ontario-grown inputs.
